Job summary

A leading manufacturer in the Beauty and Personal Care sector is looking for a Purchasing Manager to oversee the Purchasing team and drive procurement strategy. The role involves managing team members, accurate forecasting, and sourcing contracts with international suppliers. Candidates should have dedicated purchasing experience, high Excel competence, and a relevant Supply Chain qualification. The position requires on-site work in East Sussex.

The Company

An award-winning family-run business specialising in the Beauty and Personal Care sector. They are specialist Manufacturers within their field, operating with a global network of suppliers and customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire Purchasing team and will have 2 direct reports, driving procurement strategy within this dynamic industry.

What will you do as a Purchasing Manager
  • Managing and mentoring a team of 2 Purchasing Assistants
  • Responsible for accurate forecasting and robust demand planning to meet production needs.
  • Preparing and presenting monthly cost evaluation and supplier performance reports
  • Ensuring strict adherence to compliance, regulatory standards, and environmental requirements within the supply chain.
  • Sourcing and skilfully negotiating contracts with international suppliers, necessary travel for visits when required.
What will you need to be a Purchasing Manager
  • Dedicated Purchasing experience (ideally within a manufacturing or FMCG environment).
  • High competence with Excel and other relevant systems; prior science or chemistry knowledge is desirable
  • Proven ability to accurately forecast requirements and schedule purchasing with complex global suppliers.
  • Must be comfortable and willing to be based on-site 5 days a week in East Sussex.
  • A Supply Chain qualification (e.g., CIPS or similar) is required.
