Job summary

Copello Global is seeking an experienced Purchase Lead in the United Kingdom to own buying activity, ensuring materials and services are available at the right time, cost and quality for engineering and manufacturing projects.

You will manage suppliers, negotiate terms and collaborate with Engineering, Production and Quality teams to support growth and delivery in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in purchasing, procurement or supply chain in engineering/manufacturing tech environments.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills with supplier relationships.
  • Understanding of procurement processes and cost/lead-time improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day purchasing and procurement activity.
  • Manage supplier relationships and monitor performance.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times and commercial terms.
  • Ensure materials and components are available for manufacturing.

Job description

We are working with an innovative technology business operating within the high-frequency electronics and advanced communications sector, supplying highly engineered solutions into demanding technology markets across Aerospace, Defence and more.

As the business continues to grow, they are looking for an experienced Purchase Lead to take ownership of purchasing activity and help ensure the business has the right materials, components and services available at the right time, cost and quality.

The Role

As Purchase Lead, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating purchasing activities across the business, working closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure effective supply and commercial performance.

Key areas will include:
  • Leading day-to-day purchasing and procurement activity.
  • Managing supplier relationships and supporting supplier performance.
  • Obtaining and negotiating pricing, lead times and commercial terms.
  • Ensuring materials and components are available to support manufacturing requirements.
  • Working closely with Engineering, Production, Planning and Quality teams.
  • Monitoring purchasing requirements, deliveries and potential supply issues.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve cost, quality, lead time and overall supply performance.
  • Supporting the development and continuous improvement of the company's supply chain and procurement processes.
About You

We are looking for someone with experience within purchasing, procurement or supply chain, ideally gained within an engineering, electronics, manufacturing or technology-led environment (highly regulated industries such as defence, aerospace, electronics, Automotive preferred)

You will ideally have:
  • Experience managing suppliers and purchasing activities.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
  • Good understanding of procurement and supply chain processes.
  • Experience working with technical or manufactured products/components.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive approach to resolving supply and procurement challenges.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
