Job summary

Confidential is seeking a Purchasing & Inventory Controller to manage the full purchasing cycle for IT hardware, identify new suppliers, negotiate costs, raise purchase orders and monitor delivery performance.

You will optimise inventory levels, work with Sales, PLM and Engineering, analyse data in PowerBI and Sage100 ERP, and drive cost savings while maintaining quality and service. This role requires 5–7 years of IT hardware purchasing or inventory management experience.

Qualifications

• Full purchasing cycle management for IT hardware, including supplier selection and cost negotiation.
• Forecast purchase requirements with sales to achieve a 92% fill rate and 80–120 days of sales inventory.
• Experience with KPI reporting, inventory control and process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Forecast purchase requirements with Sales and suppliers to sustain a high fill rate.
• Collaborate with PLM, Engineering and international team to identify cost savings opportunities.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, cost discrepancies, shortages and delays.
• Present KPI information to stakeholders and translate priorities into supply chain strategies.
• Take responsibility for all inventory including stock, returns, and obsolescence.

Purchasing & Inventory Controller (43-50K)

Main Job Purpose:

Responsible for the full purchasing cycle, including identifying new suppliers, negotiating costs, raising purchase orders, monitoring supplier delivery performance and updating internal systems, while seeking opportunities to optimise inventory holding. Our office is located in South Cerney.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with Sales and suppliers to produce forecasts of purchase requirements and schedule orders for regular deliveries, achieving a fill rate above 92% while keeping inventory within 80 to 120 days of sales.
• Work with suppliers, PLM, Engineering and the wider international purchasing team to identify opportunities for average annualised cost savings of approximately 10%, through negotiation or qualification of new suppliers, while maintaining quality and service levels.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues relating to quality, cost discrepancies, shortages and delivery delays.
• Meet with internal stakeholders to present KPI information, capture business priorities and translate them into supply chain strategies.
• Take responsibility for all inventory, including qualification stock, customer return stock, quarantine stock and supplier return stock. Review excess and obsolete stock and make recommendations for rotation, sales promotions or write-offs.
• Perform data analysis to recommend process and control improvements.
• Support the Director of Operations with certification and compliance workstreams.
• Support the Warehouse Manager with inventory spot checks and monthly cycle counts.

Skills & Experience

• Excellent understanding of global procurement processes, and complex supply chains within the IT hardware industry.
• Good knowledge of inventory classifications, A, B C, and H, M, L to drive inventory management and fill rate strategies.
• 5-7 years previous experience within IT hardware industry in purchasing or inventory management roles.
• Excellent business application skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint).
• Experience within IT hardware industry, technical knowledge would be advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of databases (PowerBI), ERP applications (Sage100 ERP)
• Excellent communication skills, including presentation and negotiation abilities.
• CIPS Level 4 qualification or above.
• Technical knowledge of IT hardware products.
