Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Welfare Officer for a Poole primary school. The role focuses on pupil wellbeing, first aid, and maintaining welfare records. You will work with teachers, parents and pastoral staff to ensure a safe, supportive environment throughout the school day.

The post requires prior experience with children, a first aid qualification or willingness to obtain training, and strong organisational and confidentiality skills. DBS checks and safeguarding procedures apply.

Qualifications

• First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain relevant training.
• Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
• Calm and caring approach.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Good safeguarding understanding and ability to escalate concerns.

Responsibilities

• Provide first aid and basic welfare support.
• Respond to pupil illnesses and minor injuries.
• Maintain accurate medical and welfare records.
• Contact parents and carers when appropriate.
• Administer medication in line with procedures and training.
• Monitor pupils who are unwell during the school day.
• Follow health and safety checks and safeguarding procedures.
• Maintain confidential pupil information and communicate clearly with staff and parents.
