Job summary

Burwell Village College is seeking a Learning Mentor to support vulnerable pupils through one-to-one mentoring, working with the SENDCo and family services. The role involves coordinating with teachers and external agencies to create targeted support plans and improve attendance and engagement.

Applicants will champion pupil wellbeing, foster positive behaviours, and participate in safeguarding duties, including meetings with parents and carers and supporting transition planning.

Qualifications

• Experience building mentoring relationships with pupils.
• Ability to communicate with parents, carers and external agencies.
• Understanding of safeguarding procedures and DSL responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop positive one-to-one mentoring relationships with identified pupils.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and external agencies to identify needs.
• Devise and monitor individual pupil action plans for support.
• Maintain home/school liaison to inform families of progress.
• Support attendance, reading, and homework to meet academic demands.
• Attend CPD and support staff training to ensure best practice.
