The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a Pupil Support Worker for Stenhouse Primary School in Edinburgh. The role involves supporting pupils with autism and other complex needs in a specialised provision (ESB). The post is part-time, with 11 hours per week across 39 weeks per session, Monday to Thursday 11:30am–2:15pm.

An PVG check/update and overseas criminal record check if applicable are required. You will work in two classes, alongside two teachers, a part-time Early Years Practitioner,

Job description

Pupil Support Worker

Stenhouse Primary School

Salary: £27,257 - £29,850 (pro rata for part time & sessional)

Hours: 11 per week, 39 weeks sessional

The working days are Monday to Thursday 11.30am – 2.15pm

The ESB is a specialised provision which is attended by children who have a diagnosis of autism and other complex needs. We have two classes with eight pupils in each, supported by two class teachers, one part time EYP and six Pupil Support Workers. The successful candidate will work in both classes. We are looking for someone with experience of supporting children with additional support needs as well as someone who is enthusiastic, reliable, self-motivated, understanding and has patience to support our young people in a nurturing learning environment. Being a strong team player is essential as is the ability to reflect on practice.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undertake a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
