Job summary

Scottish Borders Council is seeking a Pupil Support Assistant to support learners with additional needs across Drumlanrig Primary School and the Hawick cluster of seven other schools.

The post is term-time only, permanent, working 18 hours per week. The role requires flexibility to cover all eight schools as needed and may involve assisting with feeding, personal care, and mobility tasks after appropriate training.

Qualifications

• No formal qualifications required, but an acceptable standard of school education is desirable.
• On-the-job training will be provided as and when available.
• Role supports pupils with additional needs across multiple schools.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with communication and learning needs.
• Assist with written tasks and preparing resources.
• Use of IT to support learning activities.
• Supervise during intervals and lunch times.
• Assist with feeding and personal hygiene after training.
• Liaise with teachers and other professionals as required.
