Overview

Pupil Engagement Coach - Cramlington

Milk Education are looking for a passionate Pupil Engagement Coach to join an amazing team of staff working with 5-16 year olds who have Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs. The role will have a 10-week probationary period with Milk Education before becoming permanent. This education provision provides inclusive and personalised education that meets individual needs and aspirations.

Responsibilities
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students who are struggling to attend or engage due to emotional or social difficulties.
  • Support students with emotional-based school avoidance in returning to and remaining engaged with learning, both within school and through carefully planned reintegration strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies to develop effective strategies that address barriers to engagement.
  • Provide both academic mentoring and wellbeing support to help students build self-belief, resilience, and motivation.
  • Promote positive attitudes to learning, helping students develop strategies to manage anxiety and maintain focus.
  • Support classroom teachers to create inclusive and nurturing learning environments that meet the needs of vulnerable learners.
Requirements
  • Proven experience supporting young people with emotional, behavioural, or social challenges—particularly students with EBSA or low attendance. (Desirable)
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students with complex emotional needs.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the confidence to work independently when needed.
  • A genuine commitment to helping every child achieve and thrive, regardless of their starting point.
