Overview

This is a hands-on leadership role suitable for someone with strong electrical and mechanical experience. Knowledge of pumps and previous supervisory experience are advantageous but not essential. The role combines practical engineering, workshop management, team supervision, maintenance scheduling, and support in commercial decisions and Health & Safety oversight.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engineering & Technical Duties: Carry out hands-on pump repair work both in the workshop and on-site.
  • Engineering & Technical Duties: Complete full strip-and-report processes through to final testing.
  • Engineering & Technical Duties: Assemble pump sets and support installation work.
  • Engineering & Technical Duties: Conduct site surveys and customer visits to fault-find systems and provide technical guidance.
  • Commercial & Reporting: Assist with preparing quotations by providing accurate costings.
  • Commercial & Reporting: Support decision-making on pump repair versus replacement.
  • People & Workshop Management: Provide day-to-day supervision of service engineers.
  • People & Workshop Management: Manage workload scheduling, productivity, training, communication, and discipline.
  • People & Workshop Management: Maintain workshop cleanliness, organisation, and a strong Health & Safety culture.
  • People & Workshop Management: Mentor apprentice and future engineers.
  • Coordination & Logistics: Liaise with sales, works, and stores teams to ensure jobs are completed correctly and on time.
  • Coordination & Logistics: Oversee maintenance scheduling for building, machinery, and equipment calibration.
  • Coordination & Logistics: Ensure all company vehicles are serviced, road-legal, and maintained.
  • General: Contribute to the overall smooth running, efficiency, and continuous improvement of shopfloor activities.
