Job summary

KPMG is seeking a senior Governance, Risk and Compliance professional in the UK to manage a portfolio of local authority grants engagements and lead outsourced or co-sourced internal audit services. You will work with senior client stakeholders, oversee planning to completion, and guide teams toward compliant, high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Strong written, presentation and analytical skills; proficient in PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
• Consulting experience and NHS or education sector exposure would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of grant assurance and certification engagements for local authorities.
• Manage internal audit programmes from planning to reporting in line with IIA standards and KPMG methodology.
• Build relationships with senior finance, governance and operational stakeholders and communicate findings clearly.
• Oversee testing, working papers and audit committee materials, ensuring quality and timeliness.
• Manage engagement scope, milestones, budgets and delivery pressures, taking early action where needed.
• Identify control weaknesses and opportunities to improve governance and risk management.
• Coach and develop colleagues to strengthen grants assurance and internal audit expertise.
• Support business development through proposals, tenders and knowledge sharing.
