Join us as Public Policy Unit Manager

  • We're looking for a motivated and pragmatic Public Policy professional to work in our newly formed Policy Unit to develop and promote our interests to political and other relevant stakeholders, including customers
  • This is a perfect opportunity to use your policy knowledge, insight, and contacts to develop ideas and proposals to underpin campaigning activity on issues of strategic importance to us and our customers
  • You’ll play an important part in enhancing our reputation, supporting our public policy priorities, and delivering value for our customers and stakeholders
What you'll do

You’ll be helping to set and deliver our public policy priorities, using your strong research skills and ability to network internally and externally to extract viewpoints and data to help shape our policy positioning. Using your network both inside and outside the bank, you develop and implement policy proposals with stakeholders in the bank, politicians, customers, and other interested parties.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Liaising with other teams in Corporate Affairs and across the bank to ensure Policy Unit work is an integral part of Corporate Affairs activity
  • Proactively supporting the Public Affairs team to review our policy priority areas that align with the wider bank strategy
  • Representing the bank externally with relevant stakeholders, engaging with government, political parties, trade bodies, and think tanks
The skills you'll need

We’re looking for someone with experience of working in a public policy setting including government, in-house, agency, think tank, or political environments. Along with a background in managing public policy risks and issues, you’ll have experience providing strategic counsel to internal colleagues. Experience working in financial services is desirable.

You’ll also demonstrate:

  • Experience of using data and research to formulate evidence-based public policy solutions
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills
  • A proactive and positive approach to work
