Job description

The Infant feeding public health support worker will be responsible for advice, support and delivery of public health interventions, health promotion and support for parents, carers, children and young people tailored to their needs. The post holder will work within the community infant feeding team offering feeding support to families, via the telephone home visit and through digital support. The post holder will ensure effective administration within the infant feeding service. The post holder will work within the infant feeding team and support the Infant feeding Specialist health visitor to gain and/or maintain baby friendly accreditation within 0-19/25 service. The infant feeding public health support worker will contribute to the promotion of a positive breast-feeding culture across Bolton., Practice within baby friendly standards to ensure that all parents have the information required to make informed feeding choices and are aware of the specialist support services available to manage complex feeding difficulties and to promote the continuation of breastfeeding.

To work within the infant feeding team offering families evidence based information and support around infant feeding.

To work with families who are experiencing feeding difficulties in the early postnatal weeks and months

Make initial contact to parents who have just had a baby to offer early interventions and support.

To be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to children, young people and families.

Ensure the escalation of issues relating to tasks occur in appropriate manner.

To undertake any other reasonable duty which is appropriate to the band when requested by senior staff.

To be able to travel across the borough to support service delivery.

Communicate with parents/carers and children in a way that is appropriate to them and the situation

Have the ability to manage challenging, distressing and emotional circumstances, accessing team support, leadership support and clinical supervision as required.

Form productive relationships with relatives/carers and patients and maintain sensitivity to their emotional needs when discussing plans of care.
