Fairmont Southampton invites you to join our luxury hotel as a Public Area Cleaner. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Housekeeping, you will maintain pristine public spaces and staff dormitory areas, ensuring lobbies, restrooms, corridors and elevators reflect our commitment to guest comfort and presentation.

You will perform sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, sanitizing, restock supplies, and respond to guest and colleague requests with courtesy.

Qualifications

• Experience in housekeeping or related role; luxury hospitality preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Strong cleaning skills and attention to detail; professional customer service mindset.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain all public areas of the hotel, including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, elevators, and other shared spaces; staff dormitory areas.
• Perform sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, polishing and sanitizing to keep surfaces spotless.
• Empty trash and recycling; ensure proper waste disposal practices.
• Restock public areas and dormitory supplies (restroom toiletries, sanitation products).
• Monitor cleanliness; refresh areas to maintain presentation standards.
• Respond promptly and courteously to guest and colleague requests for cleaning assistance or information.
• Communicate maintenance issues, safety concerns, or operational needs to the Housekeeping Supervisor.

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Housekeeping, the Public Area Cleaner is an essential member of the Housekeeping team, responsible for maintaining exceptional cleanliness, presentation, and comfort throughout all public spaces and staff dormitory areas at Fairmont Southampton. This role ensures that lobbies, hallways, restrooms, elevators, other shared spaces, and dormitory accommodation consistently reflect our commitment to luxury hospitality and superior guest and colleague experience., Public Area & Dormitory Cleaning & Maintenance

• Clean and maintain all public areas of the hotel, including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, elevators, and other shared spaces, as well as staff dormitory accommodation hallways and bathrooms.
• Perform sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, polishing, and sanitizing to ensure all surfaces are spotless and inviting.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and ensure proper waste disposal practices.
• Restock public area and dormitory supplies as needed, such as restroom toiletries and sanitation products.
• Monitor cleanliness throughout shifts and proactively refresh areas to maintain presentation standards.
• Respond promptly, courteously, and professionally to guest and colleague requests for cleaning assistance or information.
• Communicate maintenance issues, safety concerns, or operational needs to the Housekeeping Supervisor.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety procedures, hotel policies, and regulatory standards, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard‑free work environment.
• Use personal protective equipment appropriately and adhere to health and sanitation protocols.

Teamwork & Operational Support

• Work independently with strong attention to detail and efficiency, while also collaborating effectively with colleagues across departments.
• Support the housekeeping team during peak times, special events, and high‑occupancy periods.
• Assist with special cleaning projects and seasonal deep‑clean activities as required.
• Share knowledge and best practices with new team members to help maintain quality and consistency.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience Previous experience in housekeeping, cleaning, or a related role, ideally within luxury hospitality or high-quality customer service environment. Experience responding to guest inquiries and maintaining cleanliness standards is an asset.
