Our Integrated Substance Misuse & Mental Health Service, at HMP Oakwood, is looking for a dynamic and experienced Psychosocial Recovery Worker. The team is innovative, forward‑thinking and committed to a recovery‑focused approach that meets people’s needs. You will be part of a supportive team with effective management, supervision and guidance. Working with people who have complex offending backgrounds and substance‑misuse needs, within prison, is both challenging and rewarding. Key responsibilities
  • Provide low, medium, and high‑intensity interventions as part of the Integrated Mental Health and Substance Misuse Team.
  • Work in a custodial environment delivering a high‑quality drug and alcohol recovery service in response to need.
  • Deliver a range of psycho‑social interventions that motivate and support people to achieve recovery and positive outcomes within a recovery‑oriented substance‑misuse treatment service.
  • Collaborate with clinical prescribing services to ensure the needs of each service user are met.
  • Provide a drug and alcohol recovery service incorporating assessment, recovery planning, casework coordination and psycho‑social interventions to people located within the prison establishment.
  • Facilitate individual and group sessions; provide case‑management tasks and recovery planning.
  • Partner with key agencies to support individuals on their personal recovery journeys.
  • Deliver the substance‑misuse and wellbeing elements of the integrated offender team.
Essential qualifications and experience
  • NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care (or commitment to obtain one) and/or relevant experience in a comparable setting.
  • Experience of integrated working practices with people with substance‑misuse needs.
  • Minimum 12 months of experience working with substance users.
  • Experience of group facilitation and individual case management.
Desirable qualifications and experience
  • Relevant training/qualification in CBT, motivational interviewing, brief solution‑focused therapy, mapping techniques, auricular acupuncture, SMART Recovery, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice field.
