Job Summary

Herefordshire and Worcestershire Talking Therapies Service is a dynamic service that strives for balance between meeting locally commissioned targets, clinical effectiveness and patient‑centred care. Are you a qualified, enthusiastic and passionate Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP)? Talking Therapies is looking to recruit a PWP to join our expanding team. We value the clinical growth, development and wellbeing of therapists, providing regular supportive supervision, champion roles, frequent CPD and flexible working opportunities, including a balance of office and remote working.

You will need to be reregistered with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and have a qualification in a Post‑Graduate Diploma in Low‑Intensity Psychological Interventions with Adults. Contracted hours are full‑time – 37.5 hours per week. You will be expected to work flexibly; this may include early morning and late evening appointments, local base working and remote home working, and travel for mandatory face‑to‑face training.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Behaviour consistently with the values and beliefs of the organisation and promote these on a day‑to‑day basis.
  • Act as a role model to colleagues, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.
  • Use initiative and take responsibility for own work and the quality of the service provided to patients.
  • Provide lower‑intensity psychological interventions for patients meeting the service criteria for step‑2 CBT.
  • Be accountable for professional actions and clinical judgement.
  • Attend regular clinical supervision and line management as required by the service.
  • Upon completing supervisory training, offer case‑management supervision as required.
  • Work with diverse populations, making reasonable adjustments for patients presenting with long‑term health conditions to enable equal opportunities for all.
  • Effectively manage own time, caseloads and performance in line with service demands.

Experience
Essential
  • Demonstrable experience in primary care mental health services.
  • Experience working in a service with agreed targets, demonstrating clinical outcomes.
  • Evidence of working with patients experiencing anxiety and depression within a primary care setting.
  • Success in treating a range of presenting problems with lower‑intensity psychological interventions (e.g., depression, panic, GAD, sleep, specific phobias, problem solving).
  • Experience delivering psycho‑educational short courses, digital therapy, telephone‑guided self‑help, one‑to‑one therapy, and signposting to third‑party agencies and community services.
  • Experience in accurate and detailed risk assessment and management via telephone and face‑to‑face communication.
  • High standards in written and verbal communication.
Desirable
  • Experience in the local community, preferably around Worcestershire or surrounding areas.
  • Experience in service promotion of Talking Therapies and related therapies.
  • Experience delivering Talking Therapies supervision to others.
  • Experience working within a Talking Therapies service post‑PWP qualification.
Knowledge
Essential
  • Understanding of anxiety and depression presentations in primary care.
  • Knowledge of work-related mental health impacts and benefits/employment systems.
  • Knowledge of medication used for anxiety, depression and other common mental health problems.
  • Understanding the need to use evidence‑based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post.
  • Knowledge of child and adult safeguarding issues and relevant legislation.
Additional Criteria

  • Willingness to undertake CPD for accreditation requirements.
  • Respect for others and individual rights of autonomy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to do some remote home working as required, with the need to work from your locality for face‑to‑face treatments and clinical skills.
