Job Title: Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner

Location: Tewkesbury or Remote

Salary: £30K - £40K

Status: Full-time, permanent

Purpose of Role

As a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals accessing the Careline service by conducting initial telephone consultations and assessing their needs. Your purpose is to provide compassionate, evidence-based recommendations for personalised wellbeing support. You will contribute to the delivery of stepped care interventions for those experiencing reactive life events or common mental health concerns, including guided self‑help, online therapy through Silvercloud, lifestyle advice, and appropriate signposting—helping individuals take meaningful steps toward improved mental health and resilience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish the current reason for ill health and identify any underlying cause or contributory risk factors: personal and occupational
  • Effectively communicate to the employee or dependant the multifactorial issues associated with the current episode of ill health and how they can personally address the risk factors within their locus of control
  • Prepare and present case information for employees on individual caseloads to clinical supervisors within the service, using recommended framework on an agreed and scheduled basis to ensure safe practice and clinical governance of the worker, supervisor, and service are delivered
Person Specification
Experience
  • IAPT experience / Postgraduate Certificate in Low Intensity Interventions
  • Experience of providing low intensity interventions for common mental health problems
Skills & Knowledge
  • Proficient in MS Office packages
  • Evidence of ability to write clear and accurate English
  • Comprehensive risk assessment skills for employees presenting with risk, as per risk policy and response in a timely manner in line with service guidelines
  • Confident telephone skills

Qualifications and Training
  • GCSE English C or above
  • Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, Registered Mental Health Nurse with additional therapeutic qualifications, Counsellor with low‑intensity and assessment training or other appropriately qualified mental health professional with basis for membership with one of the following professional bodies or equivalent (student or associate membership also acceptable): British Psychological Society, British Association of Cognitive & Behavioural Psychotherapies, Nursing & Midwifery Council, British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
  • OR, Psychology degree with graduate basis for registration with BPS AND evidence of working with people who have experience of mental health problems. Must have additional training in assessments and low‑intensity cognitive behavioural therapy.
