We are looking for an experienced psychological therapist or applied psychologist to work within the Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) in Southampton. We are looking for therapists with training and accreditation in either Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) or Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).

You will be based with Southampton Central CMHT at College Keep, where you will work alongside other psychological professionals including clinical psychologists, CBT therapists, and a DBT therapist. The Central team is cohesive, friendly, and receptive to psychology input.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will see patients of Central CMHT, as well as patients referred from the other CMHTs across the city. The CMHTs work with people with a range of presenting difficulties, including affective disorders, personality difficulties and psychosis. You will also provide consultation and support to the CMHT around psychological aspects of patient care, alongside the other psychological professionals in the team and the wider service.

You will be managed by a clinical psychologist, and you will receive clinical supervision according to your model of practice and individual needs. You will be supported to develop your skills, including in supervision, and you will be encouraged to supervise at least one trainee therapist.

You will join a psychology service with a wealth of clinical expertise including CBT, DBT, CAT, and EMDR. We are committed to supervision, CPD, and staff wellbeing. We support flexible working. We have strong links with the University of Southampton. We regularly take clinical psychology doctoral trainees and trainee psychological therapists on placement. We also host research-active clinical psychologists in the service. We are committed to equality of opportunity and keen to increase the diversity of our team.
