Job summary

Arriva UK Bus is seeking a PSV Shift Engineer in Hemel Hempstead to maintain vehicle safety, reliability and performance. You will inspect vehicles, diagnose faults, support workshop maintenance and ensure all work follows safety standards.

NVQ Level 3 PSV/HGV or equivalent, with experience in diagnostic techniques and workshop tools, is required. The role offers full-time hours, rotating shifts and opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 PSV or HGV Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of industry standards, safety procedures and diagnostics.
• Confident working independently and following technical instructions.
• Good mechanical skills with workshop tools/equipment experience.
• Physically fit for manual handling tasks.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily vehicle inspections to identify faults or safety issues.
• Respond to on-road breakdowns, diagnosing faults and completing minor repairs.
• Support planned and unplanned maintenance in the workshop.
• Ensure all work aligns with safety, legal and Arriva standards.
• Accurately complete service sheets, reports and maintenance records.
• Collaborate with engineers, supervisors and operations to improve services.
