Job description

We are supporting a high-growth financial services group as it continues to develop and strengthen its broader risk capabilities.

This is a genuine second-line role, rather than a position focused primarily on reporting.

It would suit someone who is commercially minded, naturally curious and enjoys understanding how different parts of a financial services business fit together.

You’ll work with senior stakeholders across the business, providing insight, challenge and analysis to help inform decision-making as the organisation continues to grow.

What you’ll be involved in:

  • Assessing financial and prudential risks and their potential impact on the business
  • Supporting scenario analysis, planning and wider risk assessments
  • Helping develop and enhance risk frameworks, policies and controls
  • Considering how changes in the external and regulatory environment may affect the business
  • Identifying emerging risks and supporting appropriate responses
  • Providing analysis, challenge and insight to senior stakeholders
  • Supporting risk governance and management committees
  • Working collaboratively across Risk, Finance and other areas of the business
  • Helping the risk function become increasingly forward-looking as the business evolves

What I’m looking for:

  • Experience in prudential, financial, treasury, risk or a closely related discipline
  • Experience within a regulated UK financial services environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to assess complex information and form a clear view
  • Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders
  • A pragmatic, commercial and proactive approach
  • Someone who enjoys understanding the wider business rather than operating within a narrow technical remit

Background-wise, this could be a really interesting move for someone from:

A Top 10 advisory team, looking to move closer to the business and take greater ownership of outcomes.

A smaller financial services firm, where you've developed broad experience and are now looking for greater scale and complexity.

A larger financial institution, where you've developed strong technical expertise but are now looking for a broader and more influential role.

The common denominator is curiosity, judgement and the ability to join the dots.

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to influence how the business thinks about risk, rather than simply produce reports.
