Job summary

A leading education provider in Gateshead is seeking a PRU Learning Mentor to support KS3 pupils with social, emotional, and behavioral needs. In this role, you will mentor students, help regulate their emotions, and facilitate their reintegration into the classroom. Ideal candidates will have experience in alternative education settings and possess strong relationship-building skills. The position is full-time with potential for permanence, focusing on the personal and academic growth of students.

PRU Learning Mentor – Gateshead

Start: January
Contract: Full time, possibility of permanent

We’re partnering with a PRU-style school in Gateshead looking for a Learning Mentor to support a small cohort of KS3 pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs. No two days are the same here, but the impact you’ll make is huge.

If you enjoy getting to know pupils, building trust and helping them find their spark again, this setting is perfect.

Your role will include:

  • Mentoring pupils 1:1
  • Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour plans
  • Delivering small interventions around confidence, resilience and engagement
  • Helping pupils transition back into the classroom

You’ll bring:

  • Experience working with young people with SEMH or in PRU/alternative settings
  • A positive, patient attitude
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
