Job summary

The University of Sheffield seeks a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate to join an interdisciplinary project on proteins as materials. You will develop protein-mediated low-temperature sintering methods for complex oxide materials, working within an expert team to advance understanding and disseminate findings.

The role emphasizes practical research, reporting, and collaboration with investigators, with a fixed-term contract and a focus on delivering milestones in a dynamic research

Qualifications

• Honours degree in a relevant subject.
• PhD in materials or similar.
• Practical experience of polymer/protein processing techniques (e.g. solubilisation for biomaterial applications).
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Use protein-mediated assembly methods to control monolith growth in functional oxide materials.
• Characterise chemical, physical and functional properties of materials.
• Prepare reports and present results at group meetings.
• Plan and schedule experimental work and resources to meet milestones.
• Work independently and as part of a team to achieve project objectives.
