Job summary

Airbus Defence and Space Limited in Stevenage offers a Propulsion Manufacturing Technician Apprentice programme. You will gain hands-on experience across mechanical assembly, orbital welding and electrical harnessing while training towards Level 2 Engineering Operative ST0537.

The apprenticeship runs for 3 years with on-site training, team activities and government-funded support. Applicants must be 16–21 and ready to commit to a demanding yet rewarding career.

Qualifications

• Eligibility: applicants must be aged 16–21 and cannot hold a Level 2 or higher qualification in Engineering, Aerospace or related fields.
• GCSE Maths and English desirable but not strict entry requirements.
• Strong communication, reliability and teamwork expected.
• No prior experience required; on‑the‑job training provided.

Responsibilities

• Year 1 focuses on Level 2 Engineering Operative ST0537 with mechanical/electrical pathways.
• Year 2 includes experience in Propulsion Production and satellite manufacture processes.
• Year 3 is fully on-site to fine‑tune hand skills against the skills matrix.
• Work in Mechanical Assembly, Orbital Welding and Electrical harnessing as part of a team.
