Sayjo Recruitment Ltd are supporting a premier UK engineering client in Dewsbury to recruit a Proposals Engineer with water industry focus. You will respond to enquiries, prepare detailed bids and quantify all costs, working to tight tender deadlines and liaising with estimators.

You will design and review water/wastewater solutions using PV Elite and AutoCAD, attend client site rounds as needed, and ensure robust tender submissions with clear scope and exclusions.

Qualifications

Job description

Sayjo Recruitment Ltd are acting on behalf of a client, to recruit a Proposals Engineer Water Industry Specialism. Our client is a premier UK based Engineering company, specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of water and wastewater treatment solutions. With a reputation for delivering high-quality, innovative and sustainable engineered systems, they partner with the UKs leading water utilities and major infrastructure contractors to solve complex water challenges. The Proposals Engineer must respond to incoming enquiries and invitations to tender, preparing detailed bids, working to tight tender return deadlines and liaising with other estimators where necessary. The Proposals Engineer must quickly gain a good understanding of the required scope of work or conduct a site visit to ascertain a scope from a speculative request and accurately quantify all necessary costs (direct or indirect) for labour, materials and equipment. Take responsibility for producing good quality written proposals which clearly define our proposed scope and exclusions together with any other information required by the tender. You will also be required to manage customer expectations and take ownership of each proposal until conclusion.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES, SKILLS & DUTIES:

• Experienced and knowledgeable in the design and estimating of water and wastewater solutions treatment solutions.
• Mechanical engineering or design background
• Ability to design and produce design drawings water solutions using PV Elite, in house spreadsheets and Autocad
• Solution based approach
• Attend project walk-rounds on client sites as required to gain a good understanding of the work involved in the project being tendered.
• To liaise professionally and courteously with client and colleagues and develop strong positive relationships with both.
• To assess and quantify materials, labour and any other resource required to successfully carry out the requirements of the project.
• To document and record all information in a format suitable to handover to Operations and as detailed in the Proposals Department Procedures.
• To prepare and assist in the preparation of tender submissions and maintain high levels of presentation.
• To conduct duties thoroughly to ensure the company is protected from unidentified costs during delivery.
• When a bid is successful, arrange and conduct a timely Contract Review and Handover meetings with Operations in line with Proposals Department Procedures.
• Identify and involve other department resources where appropriate and in line with Procedures.
• Conduct all duties efficiently.
• Undertake any other tasks as could reasonably be required of the role and act in the best interests of the business at all times.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• Specific industry skills which could reasonably be expected for the role
• Experience of costing heavy industrial projects
• Compile detailed and accurate material take offs from data sheets, 2D drawings, 3D
• Models or discussions and site visits with the client
• Ability to produce design level documentation
• Knowledge of safe site practices and procedures
• Excellent time management
• Ability to monitor and maintain adequate levels of progress and working to deadlines
• People skills, especially strong and effective communication skills
• Ability to produce comprehensive and bespoke written presentations of a very high standard
• Computer literate and competent user of Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and MS Project.

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• Experience using PV Elite as a design tool
• Inventor, Solidworks
• Experience in estimating products and installation.
• Design draughting experience

REMUNERATION & BENEFITS:

• This is a permanent position
• Circa £50K + (39 hours), negotiable dependant on experience
• Holidays start at 25 days plus stats, increasing over 3 years to reach 28 days plus stats.
• Pension employer contribution 6%
