Job summary

Pangea Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for a Proposals Engineer/Technical Support Engineer to join a leading high-speed food manufacturing equipment provider in the UK. Working Monday to Friday 08:00-16:30, you will manage bid life cycles and provide technical and commercial proposals.

Ideal candidates have SolidWorks/AutoCAD experience, a bachelor’s degree in engineering and strong cost estimation, MS Office skills, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Food, Chemical or related)
• Strong cost estimation experience and methods
• CAD reading/production using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD
• MS Office 365 proficiency (Excel for costing, Word for proposals, PowerPoint for presentations)
• Strong written and verbal communication; capable of high-quality specifications and quotations
• Commercial acumen to identify and convert opportunities in a technically complex environment
• Highly organised, detail-oriented approach to proposal accuracy

Previous Relevant Experience is Essential OR Transferable Skills from a Relevant Technical Industry - SolidWorks/AutoCAD experience is non-negotiable!!

Our Client is a Market Leading Company in the sector with an excellent reputation and over 40 years of experience providing high-performance automation solutions to various sectors including food & beverage, meat, poultry and seafood, dairy and bakery, ready meals, snacks and convenience foods, fresh produce, health & beauty, home care, pet food and other industrial sectors.

Due to substantial growth we are looking for a Proposals Engineer/Technical Support Engineer:

Overview

The Proposals Engineer is a technically skilled and commercially aware individual who sits at the intersection of engineering and sales. The purpose of the role is to produce high-quality, accurate, and compelling technical and commercial proposals that convert client opportunities into awarded projects.

Working closely with the Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Procurement teams, the Proposals Engineer will take ownership of the full bid life cycle — from initial enquiry and cost estimation through to submission, client negotiation support, and internal handover.

This role is central to revenue generation and its ability to grow into new markets and client relationships across the UK and Ireland market sectors.

With 3 main areas of responsibility:

• Proposals and Bid Management
• Technical Sales Support
• Internal Collaboration and Handover

Essential Experience

• Ideally experience in a Proposals Engineer, Applications Engineer, Technical Sales Engineer, or similar technically focused commercial role
• Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering — Mechanical, Electrical, Food, Chemical or a related discipline
• Cost Estimation: Strong, demonstrable experience in cost estimation methods and best practice for engineering projects
• CAD: Ability to read, interpret, and produce technical drawings using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD
• IT Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel (for costings and modelling), Word (for proposal writing), and PowerPoint (for client presentations)
• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the proven ability to produce high-quality technical specifications, quotations, and proposal documents
• Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and convert sales opportunities in a technically complex environment
• Organisation: Highly organised, methodical, and detail-oriented for accuracy in proposals is non-negotiable in this role

Desirable

• Background in the FMCG, food processing, beverage, or wider process industries
• Exposure to turnkey project environments where proposals span design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning
• Familiarity with contract forms and commercial terms relevant to capital equipment supply
• Experience presenting proposals and technical solutions directly to clients at senior level
