Property Maintenance Operative (Painting & Decorating)

Hours: Full-Time, Permanent

Location: Various

Salary: £23,000 - £28,000 pa, (depending on experience & qualifications)

Nova Training has an exciting opportunity for a Property Maintenance Operative to join our busy professional building maintenance team across our centres, with the main role being painting and decorating.

Key Responsibilities
  • To work as part of a busy maintenance team.
  • External maintenance of properties including fencing, gardening, weeding, patio / car park cleaning and decorative work
  • Painting & decorating
  • Removal and disposal of broken or disused furniture, fixtures, fittings and the installation of new ones as required
  • Be confident in using both hand tools, power tools and garden machinery.
  • To ensure a professional, quality service (external and internal) is always provided
  • To deal with the general upkeep of buildings by painting and decorating.
  • Support with the installation of new IT and cable (Cat 5e) networks
  • Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs
  • Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation, radiators, aircon)
  • Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm)
  • To deal with small, general items of repair and maintenance in the interior and exterior of our buildings: e.g. putting up shelves, changing light bulbs, moving furniture.
  • Able to be called upon during out of normal working hours on occasion.
  • To undertake any relevant courses as required to support the in‑company management of training centres, these courses may include but are not limited to: PAT testing, fire alarm system installation, testing and servicing, air‑conditioning servicing (F‑Gas) and any other courses as required to support the maintenance and health and safety of centres.
  • Inform Facilities Manager of any additional works needed at location.
Requirements
  • Experience working in a Maintenance role.
  • A minimum of 3 years hand on experience in property maintenance and general repairs, OR building/electrical/plumbing/carpentry qualification (City & Guilds, BTEC, ONC, HNC etc)
  • Willing and enthusiastic about undergoing training and improving on your professional skills.
  • A full current driving licence is essential.
  • The ability to use, repair and maintain machines and tools.
  • To be proactive in approach, with the ability to use initiative and resolve issues or problems quickly and effectively.
  • Able to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Keep the company vehicle and equipment in top condition, adhering to regular maintenance schedules
