Main objective of the role

The main objective of the role is to be a key member of the Property Litigation team, providing a first-class service to our clients on a range of matters. You will act for real estate developers, investors, landlords and tenants across all sectors. The team involves all fee earners in client relationship building and business development.

Key responsibilities
  • Handling disputes involving commercial and residential landlord and tenant issues, real estate and development contracts, property insolvency, rights of way, adverse possession, and restrictive covenants
  • Having direct communication with clients to gather information to progress matters with supervision
  • Drafting and serving contractual and statutory notices
  • Drafting pleadings and supporting witness statements
  • Conducting legal research to support case strategy and advice
  • Obtaining and analysing title information from the Land Registry to advise clients
  • Liaising with courts and Counsel, including instructing Counsel and attending hearings to support case progression
  • Collaborating with Counsel to formulate litigation strategies
  • Maintaining accurate records of chargeable time and leading on billing your own cases
  • Participating in business development activities, including preparing literature and attending events
  • Offering mentorship and training support to junior colleagues where appropriate

Practice overview

The Property Litigation team comprises 1 Partner, 1 Senior Associate, 1 associate solicitor and 1 Trainee. It forms part of the wider Property team that comprises 4 partners, 5 Senior Associates, 3 Associates, 2 Solicitors, 1 Paralegal, 1 Trainee and 2 Legal Secretary.

Hours

The working hours for this role are from 9.30am-5.30pm Monday to Friday, with flexibility required outside those times to meet client demands and workload. We are working in a hybrid working model with a minimum of 3 days required in the office.

Ideal candidate
  • Be a proactive, self-motivated and reliable individual;
  • Strong academic background (a 2:1 degree or equivalent from a reputable university);
  • At least 3-5 years of NQ experience in property litigation within private practice;
  • First rate drafting skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing;
  • Strong organisation and administration skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively;
  • A friendly and personable approach with colleagues and clients;
  • A proactive and growth mindset towards achieving goals;
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and an ability to pick up new systems quickly.
