Neway Recruitment are looking for an RTB Property Lawyer to join our client based with the London Borough of Islington.

Start Date: 05 January 2026

End Date: 30 March 2026

Duration: 12 Weeks

Hours per Week: 35 (Monday–Friday, 09:00–17:00)

PAYE: £28.07 per hour

Limited/Umbrella: £37.12 per hour

Location: 222 Upper Street, London Borough of Islington

Role Purpose

The London Borough of Islington is seeking a skilled Residential Property Lawyer to join their busy Legal Services team. This role is required to support an increased workload and will focus on property law matters, with a particular emphasis on Right to Buy (RTB) sales.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality legal services to the council, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and supporting the effective management of property transactions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle residential property matters, with a focus on Right to Buy sales.
  • Provide legal advice and support to the council on property-related issues.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate property contracts and documentation.
  • Manage a varied caseload independently, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external parties to ensure smooth delivery of services.
  • Contribute to the effective functioning of the Legal Services team.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Essential:
    • Qualified lawyer with experience in residential property law.
    • Strong knowledge of Right to Buy processes and legislation.
    • Ability to manage a busy caseload with minimal supervision.
    • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Desirable:
    • Previous experience working within a local authority legal team.
    • Familiarity with wider property law matters and public sector governance.
