About the Role

Working Hours: 35 Hours Per Week.
Contract Type: Full‑time, Permanent.
Additional Payments: Essential Car Allowance.
Closing Date: 26 January 2026.

Job Summary

The Property Inspections Team is a rapidly growing part of Manchester City Council’s homelessness services, responsible for ensuring that all temporary accommodation properties supplied through the Dispersed (TC504) framework and Capital Lease Temporary Accommodation schemes meet the Housing Health & Safety Rating System (HHSRS). You will manage an area of properties, keeping inspections up to date, ensuring repairs are completed within the required timeframe, resolving risks and coordinating with providers and landlords to safeguard vulnerable families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage an area of properties, ensuring inspections are up to date, repairs completed within the correct timeframe, any issues resolved and tasks completed within deadlines.
  • Act as a skilled and resilient negotiator to ensure inspections are completed on time, demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with providers and landlords.
  • Identify safeguarding risks, make timely referrals and ensure the safety of vulnerable service users.
  • Provide professional, detailed advice and assistance to service users in a sensitive and appropriate manner.
  • Work independently and collaborate with colleagues to resolve issues and act on initiative.
  • Remain calm and professional under pressure, demonstrating personal resilience in challenging circumstances.
  • Receive full training to support performance in the role.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Good understanding of homelessness, service objectives and priorities.
  • Strong workload management; complete inspections sensitively and timely to meet service user needs.
  • Initiative‑driven problem solving and independent working style.
  • Experience investigating disrepair, managing risk and planning interventions to protect the safety and well‑being of residents.
  • Technical knowledge of relevant legislation, enforcement procedures and policy compliance.
  • Accurate record‑keeping and incident reporting.
  • Commitment to ongoing self‑development and service improvement.
  • Full UK driving licence; sole access to a car; ability to obtain business liability insurance.
