Role Expertise

This role would be suited to a junior financial analyst with a proven track record of performing month-end tasks under pressure and working with large volumes of data. Experience in the telecommunications sector may be advantageous but is not a prerequisite

Scope

The Financial Analyst will support the finance team in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, with a particular focus on month-end processes. The role involves working with large volumes of data to ensure financial integrity and support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform core month-end tasks such as accruals, prepayments, journal entries, and revenue recognition.
  • Conduct variance analysis and prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Manage invoicing processes and ensure accurate financial documentation.
  • Work independently to identify and resolve issues, with minimal supervision.
  • Handle and analyse large datasets using Excel, ensuring precision and attention to detail.
  • Assist with audit queries.
  • Assist with preparation of budgets and forecast.
  • Support financial planning and reporting activities as required.

While prior experience in the telecommunications sector is beneficial, it is not essential. The role is ideal for a part-qualified or newly qualified accountant (ACCA or CIMA) looking to build on their analytical and reporting skills in a dynamic, data-driven environment.

Key Deliverables and Outcomes
  • Accurate month-end reporting: timely completion of accruals, prepayments, journal entries, and revenue recognition to ensure financial statements reflect true business performance.
  • Data integrity & reconciliation: maintain clean and accurate balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are substantiated and variances are explained.
  • Insightful analysis: perform variance analysis to identify trends and anomalies.
  • Stakeholder relationships: build and maintain effective relationships with external and internal stakeholders to gather accurate financial data, validate assumptions, and ensure alignment on reporting and analysis.
  • Operational support: monthly invoicing with correct support.
  • Process efficiency: identify and implement improvements to streamline financial processes and reduce manual effort.
Qualifications
  • Part-qualified or newly qualified accountant (ACCA or CIMA).
  • Strong understanding of core accounting principles, particularly double-entry bookkeeping.
Experience
  • Proven experience in month-end financial processes, including accruals and prepayments, journal entries, revenue recognition, variance analysis, invoicing, balance sheet reconciliations.
Skills
