Location: Bristol (Hybrid Working)

Salary: Up to £70, + Bonus

A leading insurer is seeking a P&C Underwriter with a strong casualty focus to join its growing regional team in Bristol. This is a key strategic hire as part of a broader investment into Bristol, offering the opportunity to influence portfolio growth and build strong market relationships. This role would suit an experienced underwriter ready to step into a position to shape the next phase of a regional P&C build‑out.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Underwrite a mix of new and renewal mid‑market business across casualty, property and package, with a particular emphasis on casualty risks.
  • Lead new business efforts and maintain broker relationships, especially within the Bristol market.
  • Represent the P&C proposition at broker meetings, events, and client reviews.
  • Work collaboratively across teams, including distribution and other underwriting lines, to uncover cross‑sell opportunities.
  • Mentor and support junior underwriters, setting a high standard in technical ability and customer engagement.
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven underwriting experience, ideally with a strong casualty background, and exposure to property or package risks.
  • Confident broker engagement skills, with an established or developing network in Bristol.
  • A commercial mindset with the ability to identify and deliver on growth opportunities.
  • Technically sound, with the ability to trade profitably and independently, supported by wide underwriting authority.
  • Comfortable contributing to a rebuild and transformation agenda, with flexibility and drive to help shape a high‑performing team.
