Property Accountant £45,000 to £55,000 Marylebone
Cobalt is working with a well-established property development firm in Central London with a portfolio of commercial properties across Central London. They are on the lookout for an experienced Property Accountant to work closely with the Financial Controller managing the financial processes of their commercial portfolio.
Duties
- Actively seeking improvements to the procedures within the department and implementing new processes where appropriate
- Full ownership of the accounts payable/accounts receivable functions
- Cashflow management for each property to ensure suppliers can be paid
- Monitoring accounts emails to ensure all invoices are received and submitted correctly
- Responding to tenant queries on a timely basis
- Preparation and reconciliation of Service Charge Budgets and Expenditure for Commercial Properties
- Preparing month/year-end financial statements, including all bookkeeping through posting of bank transactions and monthly bank reconciliations on Xero and posting journals where appropriate
- Completing VAT returns
- Ensure all direct debit payments are allocated to their respective invoices in a timely manner
- Running weekly invoices and payment runs and managing the cashflow
- Reviewing unpaid supplier invoices and keeping communication flowing between suppliers and the company
- Creating and sending rental, service charge and rechargeable invoices to tenants
- Management of all financial matters affecting the properties
- Prepare quarterly accounts for the management companies and reconcile any differences
- Support the site teams and surveyors providing financial guidance including quarterly service charge reviews, mid-year forecasts and ad-hoc queries
- Assist with the production of the annual service charge budgets in accordance with RICS guidelines
- General office administrative duties, when appropriate
Requirements
- At least 3-5 years\' property accounting experience both within rent and service charge
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable taking on responsibility and juggling multiple tasks at once
- Quick learner, process improvement mindset, with strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent IT skills- Excel and Word and ideally Xero and property systems
