Job summary

Scruffy Dog Creative Group in Minworth, England, is seeking experienced finishers/sanders to work on bespoke production pieces in a hands-on workshop. The role focuses on surface preparation, sanding and finishing of props, models and fabricated components, using GRP, fibreglass, resin, foam, wood and metal.

You will work from drawings and deadlines, maintaining high finish quality and a professional workshop environment.

Responsibilities

• Sanding and preparing props, models and fabricated components for finishing.
• Preparing GRP, fibreglass, resin, foam, wood, metal and other substrates.
• Filling imperfections, pinholes, joins and surface defects.
• Working through different grades of abrasives to achieve the required finish.
• Preparing surfaces for primer, paint and other finishing processes.
• Identifying and correcting surface imperfections.
• Carrying out final finishing and preparation to a high standard.
• Working from drawings, samples, specifications and finish requirements.
• Working alongside mould makers, fibreglassers, painters and fabricators.
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
• Working efficiently to meet demanding production deadlines.

Job description

The ideal candidates will have strong practical experience in surface preparation, sanding and finishing, preferably within the theming, scenic, props, automotive, GRP, model making or fabrication industries.

This is a hands-on workshop role, working on bespoke and high-quality production pieces where attention to detail, finish quality and the ability to work to deadlines are essential.
