Job summary

A supportive living service in Cookstown is seeking dedicated individuals to support adults with complex mental health conditions. Job description

New Haven is a warm, homely 24-hour supported living service based in a shared house in Cookstown. We support five adults aged 18-60 who are living with complex mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and high-functioning autism.Our role is to help residents develop daily living skills, build healthy routines and relationships, and grow their confidence to live as independently as possible within the community. Referrals come from the Community Mental Health Team and local hospitals, and each resident receives person-centred support tailored to their needs.The main function of the role is to provide the highest possible standard of care and support to Service Users by actively promoting and implementing Recovery by using a strengths based person centred approach.

Responsibilities
  • Develop & maintain a trusting & professional relationship with Service Users and act in a supportive & empathetic manner towards them.
  • Contribute to & help maintain a harmonious and therapeutic environment.
  • Support Service Users to manage their Mental health, physical health and wellbeing through the development, implementation and monitoring of individual wellbeing and safety management plans.
  • Actively encourage the involvement of Service Users in all aspects of decision making, be sensitive and seek solutions to difficulties encountered by them.
Skills and Qualifications
  • To be flexible as the role will involve working on a rota/shift basis in Supported Housing. Shifts will include early shifts, late shifts, night shifts, weekend and/or night cover as required to meet the needs of the scheme.
  • A full current driving licence and access to a car. Consideration will be given to alternative travelling proposals in respect of applicants with a disability who cannot hold a licence. Business Insurance is a requirement for the post.
  • Be educated to QCF/NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, in a related subject e.g. Care and 6 months paid experience supporting people within a health and social care setting
  • Or a minimum of 12 months paid experience supporting people within a health and social care setting.
  • Have proven experience of motivating, supporting and mentoring Service Users.
  • Experience of maintaining service user and agency records.
