The Vacancy

Full time Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm

Peterborough – Field based blended with remote and office working

We’re expanding our Asset team and looking for a skilled and motivated Project Surveyor to help us deliver high-quality planned, cyclical, and service programmes of work. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and forward-thinking team that’s committed to improving homes and communities.

As a Project Surveyor, you’ll focus on delivering a high quality, customer focused repairs service by diagnosing property defects, carrying out inspections, and specifying cost effective remedial works ensuring compliance with regulations and providing excellent customer service to residents and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose property defects, carry out inspections, and specify cost-effective responsive repairs.
  • Manage day to day repair cases, ensuring works are completed promptly and to required standards.
  • Liaise with contractors and in-house teams to monitor repair quality, performance, and compliance.
  • Ensure all repairs adhere to health and safety legislation, building regulations, and organisational policies.
  • Provide clear technical advice to residents, colleagues, and stakeholders throughout the repair process.
  • Produce accurate repair scopes, manage work orders, and control costs within budgetary constraints.
  • Investigate complex building issues, including damp, mould, structural defects, and disrepair claims.
  • Maintain accurate records, photographs, and asset data to support repair decisions and reporting.
  • Deliver a customer-focused service by managing expectations and ensuring residents feel supported.
  • Support continuous improvement of the repairs service through feedback, analysis, and proactive solutions.
What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • HNC in Building Studies or equivalent.
  • Proven project management experience in building works.
  • Strong knowledge of construction technology and building regulations.
  • Experience in defect diagnosis and technical reporting.
  • Excellent communication, budgeting, and contractor management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a suitably insured vehicle.

Desirable:

  • Degree-level qualification in a construction-related field.
  • IOSH or Prince2 certification.
  • Experience with JCT contracts, CAD, and asset management databases.

Additional Information

  • This role requires a Basic DBS check.
  • May involve lone working and working at height.
  • Flexibility to respond to emergency situations during office hours.
