This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality planned maintenance, investment and improvement programmes across our housing stock, helping to ensure our homes remain safe, well-maintained and fit for the future.

About the role

As a Project Surveyor, you’ll support the effective delivery of WCHG’s planned maintenance and investment programmes. You’ll carry out detailed inspections, oversee contractor performance, and act as Clerk of Works on site — ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, to specification and with the customer experience firmly at the centre.

You’ll work closely with colleagues across Property Services, Housing and external partners, using your technical expertise and professional judgement to resolve issues, manage risk and drive quality across a range of projects.

What you’ll be doing
  • Carrying out stock condition, pre- and post-works inspections across domestic properties and estates

  • Producing clear surveys, specifications, schedules of work and technical reports

  • Overseeing contractors on site and undertaking Clerk of Works duties under JCT contracts

  • Monitoring quality, progress, health & safety and compliance on live projects

  • Supporting the delivery of planned maintenance and investment programmes, including kitchen schemes

  • Identifying defects, resolving issues and managing works through to completion

  • Working with tenants and stakeholders to ensure works are communicated clearly and delivered considerately

  • Contributing to data analysis, trend identification and continuous improvement across property services

What we’re looking for

You’ll be a confident and organised surveying professional with a strong technical background and a customer-focused approach, alongside:

  • Sound knowledge of building construction, maintenance and the built environment

  • Experience carrying out inspections, diagnosing defects and managing remedial works

  • Experience supervising contractors and acting as Clerk of Works

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory requirements and health & safety regulations

  • Ability to prioritise workloads, manage competing demands and work to deadlines

  • Strong communication skills, including dealing with customers, contractors and stakeholders

  • Competence using IT systems to produce reports, specifications and schedules of work

  • HNC in Building Construction (or equivalent experience)

  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use
