A community housing organization in Greater Manchester seeks an experienced Project Surveyor to support planned maintenance and investment programmes. We’re looking for two experienced Project Surveyors to join our Property Services team at Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG). One role is a permanent appointment, and the other is a 12-month fixed term contract ending on the 30th April 2027.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality planned maintenance, investment and improvement programmes across our housing stock, helping to ensure our homes remain safe, well-maintained and fit for the future.
As a Project Surveyor, you’ll support the effective delivery of WCHG’s planned maintenance and investment programmes. You’ll carry out detailed inspections, oversee contractor performance, and act as Clerk of Works on site — ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, to specification and with the customer experience firmly at the centre.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across Property Services, Housing and external partners, using your technical expertise and professional judgement to resolve issues, manage risk and drive quality across a range of projects.
Carrying out stock condition, pre- and post-works inspections across domestic properties and estates
Producing clear surveys, specifications, schedules of work and technical reports
Overseeing contractors on site and undertaking Clerk of Works duties under JCT contracts
Monitoring quality, progress, health & safety and compliance on live projects
Supporting the delivery of planned maintenance and investment programmes, including kitchen schemes
Identifying defects, resolving issues and managing works through to completion
Working with tenants and stakeholders to ensure works are communicated clearly and delivered considerately
Contributing to data analysis, trend identification and continuous improvement across property services
You’ll be a confident and organised surveying professional with a strong technical background and a customer-focused approach, alongside:
Sound knowledge of building construction, maintenance and the built environment
Experience carrying out inspections, diagnosing defects and managing remedial works
Experience supervising contractors and acting as Clerk of Works
Knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory requirements and health & safety regulations
Ability to prioritise workloads, manage competing demands and work to deadlines
Strong communication skills, including dealing with customers, contractors and stakeholders
Competence using IT systems to produce reports, specifications and schedules of work
HNC in Building Construction (or equivalent experience)
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use
