Oxford Archaeology Ltd in Cambridge is seeking a Supervisor for our Post-Excavation team in Bar Hill. The role focuses on stratigraphic analysis, interpretation and presentation of project data, with most work in post-excavation analysis and potential research support for other departments.

Applicants should have a degree in archaeology or related field, strong written English, and familiarity with MS Office, Access, AutoCAD or GIS.

Job description

We are seeking a Supervisor to join our highly successful and respected Post-Excavation team in Bar Hill, Cambridge. The postholder will report to the Regional Head of Post-Excavation and will contribute to a range of archaeological investigations and projects. The Supervisor will carry out stratigraphic analysis and the interpretation, analysis and presentation of project data. They will work primarily in post-excavation analysis, but may also provide research support for other departments as required. This post is offered as a full-time role, although part-time or flexible working may be considered. The role will encompass varied responsibilities, the key aspects of which are:

• Post-excavation analysis leading to appropriate contributions and outputs.
• Writing grey literature reports and publications (including journal articles).
• Experience of post-excavation work and the writing of archaeological reports, especially in a commercial environment.
• Good understanding of archaeological stratigraphy and the interpretation of excavated sites.
• Thorough knowledge of British archaeology.
• Excellent written English.
• The ability to conduct small scale analysis or contribute to major analyses by undertaking a range of post-excavation tasks and techniques
• The ability to collect, record, store and present post-excavation data accurately.
• The ability to undertake academic research on relevant subjects.
• Experience of a range of software packages including Microsoft Office and Access databases, together with familiarity with AutoCAD and/or GIS
• The ability to work independently when required but also to operate as part of a team.
• Good organisational and administrative skills.
• Good communication skills.
• A degree (or equivalent experience) in archaeology, archaeological science or a related discipline.
• The ability to operate with regard to health and safety legislation and any related policies and procedures.
• Desirable:
• Some specialist knowledge of one or more categories of post-excavation subject areas.
• The ability to drive.

• Competitive salary range £32,617-£35,087 (appointments will be made on the basis of demonstrated ability, previous experience and CIfA membership if appropriate).
