The Opportunity

Hill McGlynn are currently working with an established construction consultancy who are looking to appoint an experienced Project Senior Quantity Surveyor as part of an exciting expansion into Essex.

The initial location is listed as Chelmsford; however, this is not an exact office location. The business is looking to establish a new office in Essex, and the final location can be flexible depending on the successful candidate and the requirements of the business.

This represents an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who is confident working independently and taking ownership of their workload, while playing an important role in establishing and developing a new regional presence.

You will provide high-quality commercial and cost-management advice throughout the project lifecycle, working directly with clients, contractors and consultants across a varied portfolio of construction and property projects.

A relevant construction or surveying degree is essential for this position.

The Role

As Project Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial and cost management of projects from initial feasibility through to completion and final account.

  • Managing valuations, applications for payment, variations and change control.
  • Preparing detailed cost reports and forecasts for clients.
  • Monitoring project expenditure against agreed budgets.
  • Managing and negotiating final accounts.
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Attending and leading client, design team and project meetings.
  • Developing strong relationships with clients, contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders.
  • Supporting, mentoring and developing Graduate and Assistant Surveyors as the regional team grows.
  • Helping promote best practice and high professional standards across the business.
