Job summary

A leading construction management firm is seeking a Project Risk Manager in the UK to provide 1st line risk management support. The role involves implementing risk management standards, conducting risk reviews, and managing risk data. Ideal candidates will possess project risk qualifications and experience in collaborative risk planning. This position offers the opportunity to work on impactful infrastructure projects across the UK's energy, water, and transportation sectors.

Qualifications

  • Project Risk qualification such as APM Risk Cert 1 & 2 is essential.
  • Experience in risk management and maintaining risk registers required.
  • Awareness of supporting bid risk management activities desired.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of the risk management process to meet compliance.
  • Facilitates monthly risk reviews with risk owners.
  • Prepare risk data and perform routine risk analysis.

Skills

Ability to apply core requirements of a standard project risk process
Experience of planning collaborative risk activities
Awareness of qualitative and quantitative risk assessment

Education

Job Description

This role provides 1st line risk management support to one or more Costain contracted client projects. The role holder will play an important role in supporting Contract/Project teams to implement effective risk management in line with Costain's risk management standards and client contractual requirements. They will also support the contract/project team through collation and analysis of risk data and report on and elevate risk management matters through both internal risk governance channels and client contractual mechanisms.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates and leads all aspects of the risk management process to the compliance of the risk management plan
  • Authors the Contract Risk Management Plan, including annual updates
  • Facilitates monthly risk reviews with risk owners to ensure quality of risk data is upheld
  • Publishes monthly risk registers.
  • Generates monthly reports for the key risk roles to undertake responsibilities
  • Upholds and reviews risk product quality against associated risk standards.
  • Prepare risk data and undertakes routine risk analysis
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential:

  • Ability to apply and operate core requirements of a standard project risk process, including maintenance of risk registers.
  • Experience of planning collaborative risk activities using a range of techniques to facilitate project / programme teams to identify, define, evaluate, respond to and report on risks to project objectives.
  • Awareness and experience of using qualitative and quantitative risk assessment criteria and supporting (with risk owners) the identification of controls and risk responses

Desirable:

  • [optional depending on contract/project] Awareness and experience of supporting bid risk management activities, for example identifying risks with members of the project bid team
  • Awareness and/or experience of supporting contract/commercial level risk management activities.
Qualifications

Essential:

  • Project Risk qualification, for example APM Risk Cert 1 & 2
  • APM PFQ
  • Or equivalent qualifications or experience.

Desirable:

  • Bachelor's degree in risk management, project management or relevant technical subject (engineering, science, maths, accounting or economics)
  • Or equivalent qualifications or experience.
