Job Description

We're representing a well-established engineering and construction contractor delivering a wide range of complex and technically challenging projects across the UK. They’re now looking for a Project Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team and take responsibility for the financial and contractual management of key projects.

The Role

As Project Quantity Surveyor, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest commercial standards. Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing cost control, valuations, and project forecasting
  • Administering contracts (JCT / NEC), variations, and final accounts
  • Preparing and managing subcontractor procurement and payments
  • Supporting the preparation of monthly commercial reports and cost reviews
  • Identifying and mitigating commercial and contractual risks
  • Working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure commercial compliance
  • Assisting in the mentoring of Assistant Quantity Surveyors where required
About You
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
  • Proven experience as a Project Quantity Surveyor within construction or engineering
  • Sound understanding of commercial and contractual principles (NEC / JCT)
  • Experience in fire protection or specialist trades is advantageous but not essential
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Proficient in commercial systems such as CostX, Bluebeam, or Excel
  • Proactive and organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
