Job summary

One Way Resourcing partners with a growing high-end residential contractor in Wallingford to recruit a Project & Procurement Assistant.

You will work with the Procurement Manager on four live projects, gaining exposure to procurement, commercial management and project delivery while being supported by senior construction professionals with Tier 1 backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Graduates or individuals with around 1-2 years' experience in construction, procurement, buying or project administration.
• More experienced procurement professionals considered for higher level roles.

Responsibilities

• Support procurement across four live construction projects.
• Send enquiries and obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Compare quotations and assist with procurement decisions.
• Raise and track purchase orders.
• Chase materials, orders, deliveries and lead times.
• Liaise with merchants, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Maintain procurement trackers and project records.
• Keep drawings and project information organised and up to date.
• Support project administration and document control.
• Assist site and project teams with day-to-day requirements.
• Visit live projects when required.
• Gain exposure to wider commercial and project management functions.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a growing high-end residential construction business, offering genuine long-term career progression and exposure to some exceptional projects.

The company delivers highly specified residential projects typically valued from 1m upwards, including bespoke new-build homes, substantial extensions, heritage refurbishments and complex conversions.

With four live projects running at any one time and continued plans for growth, they are looking to strengthen their procurement and project team with someone who wants to develop alongside the business.

The company is particularly interested in speaking with graduates or individuals with around 1-2 years' experience who are looking to establish a career within construction, procurement or project management.

However, they are equally open to considering more experienced procurement professionals who could join at a higher level and bring additional knowledge to the team. Salary, package and job title can be adjusted accordingly for the right person.

Project & Procurement Assistant - The Role

This is much more than a traditional administration position.

You will work closely with the Procurement Manager and wider project team, gaining hands‑on exposure to procurement, commercial management and project delivery while being supported by experienced senior construction professionals with Tier 1 contracting backgrounds.

Responsibilities will include:

• Supporting procurement across four live construction projects

• Sending enquiries and obtaining quotations from suppliers and subcontractors

• Comparing quotations and assisting with procurement decisions

• Raising and tracking purchase orders

• Chasing materials, orders, deliveries and lead times

• Liaising directly with merchants, suppliers and subcontractors

• Maintaining procurement trackers and project records

• Keeping drawings and project information organised and up to date

• Supporting project administration and document control

• Assisting site and project teams with day-to-day requirements

• Visiting live projects when required

• Gaining exposure to the wider commercial and project management functions of the business

For someone joining at a more experienced level, the position can be developed around your existing procurement experience and the areas where you can add value to the business.
