Job summary

Saab UK is seeking an experienced project planner to work with the Program Manager and Work Package Leads to create and maintain project plans across multiple work packages. You will rely on Microsoft Project, Jira and Excel, with ERP/MRP and PPM tool experience.

A project management qualification (APM/Prince2/PMI) is preferred. This role supports risk and issue management, progress reporting, and alignment with baseline schedules to keep programmes on track.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in New Product Development / New Product Introduction projects.
• Proficient with Microsoft Project, Jira and Excel.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
• Experience using a Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool.
• Project management qualification (APM, Prince2, PMI) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a hierarchy of plans from Program to Work Package level.
• Develop and maintain schedule granularity for each work package to enable control and reporting.
• Ensure dependencies between work packages are reflected in the delivery schedule.
• Develop a consistent format for project plans across the project.
• Provide “progress against plan” reporting at appropriate levels for stakeholders and Steering Groups.
• Actively support project risk and issue management processes.
• Support the transition of project plans into a Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool.

The Role

This role will be working closely with the Program Manager, Work Package Leads and project Financial Controller to create and maintain project plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a hierarchy of plans from Program to Work Package level
• Develop and maintain the schedule granularity for each work package to enable an appropriate level of control and reporting
• Ensure dependencies between work packages are reflected in the delivery schedule
• Develop a consistent format for project plans across the project
• Provide “progress against plan” reporting at an appropriate level for team members, Program Manager and Steering Groups explaining variances from baseline plan
• Actively support the project risk and issue management process
• Support the transition of the project plans into a Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool

Knowledge and Experience

• Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience working in New Product Development and New Product Introduction projects
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Project, Jira and Excel
• Experience of working with ERP/MRP
• Experience of working with a Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool
• A project management qualification (e.g. APM, Prince2, PMI) is preferable
