An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our growing Heritage Management Service (HMS). As a Project Officer within HMS you would work with a team of experienced historic environment professionals to provide specialist advice and consultancy services (including desk‑based assessments, heritage statements, and environmental impact assessments) for a varied range of projects. In addition, you would have the opportunity to develop your existing skill‑set by working on some of the exciting research projects we carry out every year. We Are Looking For An Experienced Archaeologist Who

• Has a thorough knowledge and understanding of British archaeology including the range of procedures, practices and processes carried out as part of both on‑and off‑site investigations.
• Shows a good understanding of commercial archaeology in the UK and the legislation relevant to it, as well as the needs and priorities of commercial clients.
• Has significant experience producing archaeological desk‑based assessments, Environmental Impact Assessments and heritage statements from inception to report production.
• Can characterise and assess the archaeological and historic landscape resource and make recommendations for mitigation strategies ahead of development.
• Is a free thinker able to apply relevant knowledge outside the box.
• Enjoys the challenge of research projects and developing relevant methodologies.
• Has the ability to conduct general academic research on relevant subjects.
• Is a good communicator and has experience in liaising with both clients and curators.
• Can demonstrate proven writing and editing ability.
• Can demonstrate good IT skills.
• A full clean driving licence.

Preferably You Would Also Have

• The ability to use GIS and/or CAD.
• Experience of setting assessment.

Additional experience in the heritage field would also be considered an advantage e.g. in historic landscapes, community engagement, conservation management plans, heritage tourism, audits and characterisation projects.

Applicants should be members, or eligible for membership, of the CIfA preferably at the ACIfA level.
