Job description

Bowland Ecology is CIEEM’s Medium Sized Practice of the year 2025 and a well-established and thriving ecological consultancy.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking to appoint a Project Managing Ecologist to our friendly and supportive team.

The role will ideally be based at Sci-Tech, Daresbury, Cheshire location with the option to also work from home. The focus of the role is to help deliver the project management aspects of large scale infrastructure projects based in Wales and North West England. This role would suite a well organised ecologist looking for a more desk based role and progression in their career.

Scope of role:
  • Project management (including budget management, tenders/fee proposals and client liaison)
  • Plan habitat and protected species surveys and liaise with inhouse survey coordinators
  • Production of ecology reports, desk studies and plans, and data input, management and analysis
  • Design and implementation of ecological mitigation schemes and input to project design
  • Supervision of staff
  • Good working knowledge on Health and Safety, with the ability to quality check / review site safety documents (e.g. RAMS) for complex sites
Successful Candidates will have:
  • Relevant degree level qualification
  • Membership of CIEEM or equivalent
  • Technical expertise in ecology
  • A good working knowledge of the regulatory framework for wildlife/protected species issues in both England and Wales
  • Excellent communication, team working project and time management skills
  • ‘Hands on’ approach, initiative and self-motivation
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports
  • Enthusiasm, confidence and a passion for Ecology
  • Experience of working within an Ecological Consultancy
