Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Project Manager to deliver multiple client projects within our Water Consultancy team. Based in the UK, you'll work with engineers, modellers and data analysts to ensure delivery to time, quality and cost.

Hybrid working may be available; in-office and client site attendance required. You will lead from inception to closure, manage governance, forecasting and billing, and help develop a high-performing delivery culture.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a technical or construction discipline and 2+ years of delivery experience, with 5+ years in water sector preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft 365, SharePoint, reporting and presentation skills, and experience of MS Project or Jira.
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of project management principles and techniques.
  • Hybrid working with office and client site attendance.

Job description

Salary: £33,000–£68,000 depending on experience

Join a growing Engineering Framework Delivery team delivering high-profile work across our Water Consultancy business. This is an opportunity to support major clean water programmes and help shape the delivery of essential projects that make a real difference to communities across the UK.

Purpose And Scope Of The Role

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of multiple client projects within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, modellers and data analysts. Working closely with Technical Managers and clients, you will manage project planning, governance, reporting, forecasting, technical delivery and financial control. You will lead projects from inception, and proposal through to feasibility, outline, detailed design stages, construction support, handover and closure. You will work to ensure delivery to time, quality and cost while supporting billing, invoicing and wider team coordination.

You will play a key role in delivering a strong pipeline of water industry projects, supporting AMP8 programmes and beyond. In the short term, you will build trusted relationships, manage active projects and strengthen delivery controls. Over time, you will help improve project processes, support colleagues through training and guidance, and contribute to a high-performing, collaborative culture with real scope for career development.

  • Project delivery leadership – Confidently manage multiple projects at once, ensuring clear objectives, progress tracking and successful outcomes across the full lifecycle.
  • Technical knowledge– The ideal candidate will have a clear understanding of the various disciplines involved in water project delivery and their relative requirements, skillsets and data needs
  • Commercial and financial awareness – Monitor budgets, forecasts and performance data, using insight to support effective decision-making and project control.
  • Stakeholder engagement – Communicate clearly with clients, Technical Managers and colleagues, building strong working relationships, manage the flow of information between technical teams and respond effectively to project needs.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills – Interpret complex information, identify risks and develop practical solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Continuous improvement mindset – Support better ways of working by developing guidance, sharing knowledge and contributing to process improvements across the team.
Skills, Qualifications And Experience

Degree in a technical or construction discipline; significant post-graduate experience of working and managing projects, task or sub-tasks within water and wastewater capital delivery programmes; Specific project management qualifications are not a pre-requisite, although being able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the principles of effective project management principles and techniques, is. Ideally this is through demonstrable experience rather than through formal qualifications. You should have at least two years’ project delivery experience, with five or more years in the water sector preferred. Strong Microsoft 365, SharePoint, reporting and presentation skills are essential, along with experience of MS Project or Jira.

Work patterns and locations:

Hybrid working may be available, with attendance in the office and at client sites required to support collaboration, meetings and project delivery needs.
