Job description

SLR has an opening for a Project Manager, who will work within the Commercial and Project Management Team, who are based in our Stoke office.

This is an exciting opportunity to work for a multidisciplinary consultancy, committed to Making Sustainability Happen, as an experienced project manager leading on the commercial and day‑to‑day management of a variety of interesting projects.

The Role

You will be involved with all aspects of the project lifecycle from tender to completion, input into pricing and seeking to minimise the costs of a project/ enhance value for money whilst achieving the required standards and quality in accordance with the contract and Client's expectations.

Many other duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Producing project programmes and dealing with day‑to‑day queries from the site team, ensuring they are adhering to the scope and specifications of the project
  • Reporting on progress against programme and budget, undertaking efficient and effective management and issuing accurate, timely and compliant notices and correspondence
  • Ensuring contractual and commercial risks and opportunities are identified to the Contract Leader at pricing stage
  • Preparation and agreement of applications for payment or the assessment & preparation of payment certificates
  • Maintaining registers of variations, delay, extension times and claims
  • Preparation of monthly progress valuations and claims for work completed
  • Production of monthly cost reports, forecasts, and Contract Leader Reports
  • Ensure all health, safety and environmental risk situations are brought to the attention of Contract Leader / Project Manager.
  • Supporting with Line Management responsibilities within the team

You’ll occasionally carry out site visits, to inspect quality of work and compliance with the plan, plus work to help secure further opportunities with clients, due to the exceptional service that you will ensure is delivered.

About you

Along with a good level of demonstrable success and delivery of project management, in relevant industry sectors, you’ll be degree qualified and self‑motivated, highly organised and able to independently manage your workload.

  • Highly conscientious and pride yourself on quality and attention to detail
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office and MS Project
  • Ability to build respectful, trusting and productive relationships with internal and external customers along with other stakeholders
  • React promptly to meet and exceed client requests, ensuring a positive and memorable experience; and
  • Leads and encourages an environment of confidence and respect.
  • A full driving licence

You should ideally hold or are working towards a relevant qualification such as APM, CEng, NECReg or similar, but if not there can be opportunity to do so.
