Job summary

Joseph Gallagher Limited, a leading UK civil engineering and tunnelling subcontractor, seeks an experienced Project Manager to oversee tunnelling and civil contracts in the North West region. You will drive safety, programme, cost control and delivery against plan.

Key responsibilities include producing procurement and resource plans, managing change, preparing RAMS and ITPs, and reporting risks to senior management. Degree-qualified civil engineer with NEC experience is required.

Qualifications

• Experience managing tunnelling and civil projects in the UK.
• Broad civil engineering background advantageous.
• Proficient with NEC contracts, change management and cost control.
• Experience in Design Management, Risk Management, CVR, forecasting and value assessment.
• Able to challenge designs and deliver with minimal guidance.
• Minimum degree qualification required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, efficient site operation reflecting high standards.
• Maximise commercial performance of contracts.
• Produce procurement schedules and coordinate with procurement for resources.
• Forecasting and managing scope to control costs on unplanned work.
• Report risks and opportunities to senior management.
• Deliver work to specified quality with RAMS, ITPs and waste plans.

Job description

Location: North West England

Key Accountabilities

Ensure the site is run in a safe and efficient manner that reflects the high standards that Joseph Gallagher Ltd are renowned for.

Ensure the commercial performance of the contract is maximised

Produce procurement schedules and liaise with the procurement department to ensure sites have adequate resources to complete the tasks

Continually forecasting, keeping the team informed of forecasts and changes and managing the scope meticulously, so knowing the costs for unplanned construction work or resources and keeping that set-aside.

Reporting Risk and Opportunities to the senior management team.

Deliver the work to the specified quality without defects. Ensure production and implementation of Project Plans, RAMS, ITP’s and waste management plans, in line with Company procedures

Ensure detailed site diaries/records are completed. Maintain commercial tension to drive out cost and challenge the status quo

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Experience of managing Tunnelling and Civilprojects in the UK.

A broad civil background would be an advantage.

Proficient in NEC contracts, contract and change management

Experienced in Design Management Programme & Risk Management, Production of CVR, incl cost control, forecasting and value assessment

Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering, or equivalent

SMSTS

Ability to challenge designs and resolve problems to conclusion

Ability to manage and deliver a successful project with minimal guidance.

Degree qualified as a minimum.
