The Opportunity

We have a permanent Project Manager role to join our Consulting Rail team in Cardiff. You will support the growing project management team, delivering work on major projects such as Cardiff Crossrail, where Amey is the Principal Designer Advisor for the tramway initiative.

The role

The Project Manager will oversee the design phases of the Cardiff Crossrail Design Delivery Project under NEC4 contract conditions, coordinating multi-disciplinary designs, managing strategic programme activities, engaging with stakeholders, maintaining budget controls and applying risk management strategies.

Responsibilities
  • Produce technically sound project management deliverables compliant with all relevant technical standards and client requirements.
  • Prepare, check and maintain project management information to ensure quality, cost and programme criteria are met.
  • Oversee junior staff and take responsibility for their actions.
  • Liaise with client and supplier representatives, attend progress meetings and respond to queries.
  • Contribute to bid preparation and the general work-winning function.
  • Drive effective health and safety practices within the team.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Experience in Project Management (e.g., Assistant Project Manager role).
  • Knowledge of health, safety and welfare procedures, including Integrated Management Systems and CDM Regulations.
  • Ability to prepare and check deliverables to a reasonable standard.
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience with interface management.
  • Professional review or end‑point assessment leading to Incorporated or Chartered status, or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in an appropriate subject.
  • Associate membership of the Association for Project Management.
  • Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or equivalent.
