Who we are

VIVO provides facilities management and accommodation maintenance for the UK military and its partners. VIVO embodies both experience and innovation.

What we do

We put our Customers and Families First. They are the driving force behind everything we do. We drive forward improvements for them to ensure the service they receive, whether reactive repairs or a major project, is completed safely and on time. In order to achieve this, we have 4 core values: open, caring, agile and collaborative. These are at the heart of everything we do.

Location: RAF Alconbury - on site role

Permanent, full time

Salary: Up to £50,000

The Project Manager is responsible for leading the successful delivery of Billable Works projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring all activities are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This role demands a strong focus on risk management, stakeholder engagement, and commercial control to deliver best value outcomes that align with client objectives and contractual commitments.

A key aspect of the position involves managing the delivery of Billable Works in full compliance with Government Regulatory and Statutory undertakings, adhering to all relevant Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. The Project Manager provides leadership to Supply Chain teams, ensuring that appropriately qualified and experienced personnel are assigned to each task and that all performance indicators are consistently achieved. They take ownership of reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure they meet acceptable standards, while maintaining oversight of safe working practices and the timely completion of works.

Close collaboration with Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) representatives, Local Customer Service Representatives, and Site Managers is essential to agreeing the scope, priorities, and delivery programmes for all works. The Project Manager manages all project activities through the Maximo system, ensuring that documentation is completed, recorded, and distributed accurately and efficiently, including the timely upload of records to SharePoint.

Throughout the lifecycle of each project, the Project Manager supports end users and stakeholders in identifying optimal solutions that meet operational requirements, while also contributing to the Ministry of Defence's carbon reduction targets. They are responsible for resolving issues and complaints promptly, maintaining a high standard of customer satisfaction through proactive communication and effective problem-solving.

Commercially, the Project Manager manages costs, budgets, and stakeholder expectations to ensure value for money and sound financial decision-making. They work closely with all relevant stakeholders to manage and mitigate contract risks, ensuring appropriate work plans and budgets are in place to deliver projects effectively within agreed timescales and financial commitments.

What You'll Bring

To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate proven experience in project and team management, including leading operational teams to achieve key performance indicators, managing costs, and ensuring safe systems of work. They should also have a strong track record in planning, directing, and controlling project activities, proactively managing performance, and resolving challenges through informed decision-making.

The role requires an HNC or HND level qualification in Building, Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering—or an equivalent discipline—along with a management-level qualification in Health, Safety, and Environmental practices such as SMSTS. Strong IT literacy is essential, including proficiency in Excel, Word, CAFM, Teams, and SharePoint, supported by a commitment to continuous professional development.

Desirable qualifications include Associate Membership of a relevant professional body such as the APM, RICS, or MCIOB, as well as accredited training in Asbestos and Legionella Responsible Person duties or Authorised Person Training. Familiarity with CAFM systems and applications is advantageous.

Adaptability, sound judgement, and emotional intelligence are essential attributes for this position. The Project Manager must be open to feedback, able to adapt quickly to new challenges, and demonstrate a strong sense of accountability, always prioritising team and company objectives over individual interests. They apply innovative thinking and practical experience to decision-making, bringing new ideas to improve delivery and performance.

Technically, the role demands strong project planning and resource management skills, with the ability to monitor progress against clear objectives and ensure milestones and targets are achieved. Above all, they must demonstrate a robust understanding of Project Management processes and maintain an unwavering focus on compliance, safety, and quality in every aspect of project delivery.
