Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Because we're not just home to the UK's fast-growing economy. We're home to the most important conversations happening today. And we're making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here's where you can help decide a better future for us all. The Capital Works Projects team is a dedicated division within Property Management, set up to deliver all strategic, multi‑discipline, capital project works across the Camden property portfolio.
As the M&E Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in collaboration with the Programme Manager to oversee and execute nominated works that span a diverse array of scopes and technical complexities, specifically within the mechanical and electrical engineering sectors. Your annual project portfolio is substantial, valuing between £4 million and £10 million. In this role, your responsibilities are multifaceted, extending to overseeing district heating system upgrades, spearheading lift replacement programmes, and managing door entry systems replacements and electrical upgrades. A particular emphasis is placed on projects within the social housing sector, highlighting the need for your expertise in navigating the unique challenges and requirements of these environments. This role demands a deep understanding of both the technical and social dimensions of M&E projects, underlining the importance of experience in social housing to ensure successful project outcomes.
You should possess significant experience in construction project management and/or project delivery, with a strong foundation in mechanical and electrical (M&E) engineering principles. An in-depth understanding of Health and Safety legislation, compliance, and the practical application of CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations is essential. Your expertise should also encompass leaseholder management, including consultation processes and service charge arrangements, which are critical for projects within residential sectors such as social housing.
A profound knowledge of procurement processes, particularly those relevant to the delivery of construction activities, repairs, and maintenance services, with a focus on M&E systems, is required. Your skills should extend to energy efficiency and sustainability modelling and calculations, integrating M&E perspectives to emphasise renewable technologies. Familiarity with ISO, British and PAS Standards, and Building Regulations is crucial for delivering best practices and modelling risks associated with sustainable construction. This includes a specific emphasis on renewable energy technologies such as solar photovoltaic systems, and heat pumps, to ensure projects not only comply with but exceed current standards for energy efficiency and environmental sustainability in the M&E field.
We’d like you to demonstrate a commitment to service excellence and a track record in positive engagement, and be familiar with the process of managing design and specialist team professionals. You should have problem‑solving skills, can anticipate change and facilitate that change to meet the project requirements. You should be a strategic thinker. The successful candidate will have a client‑focused, professional and polished approach.
