We are looking for a Project Manager to work on a long term contract in Glasgow/hybrid. Our client is looking for a Project Manager with a background in nuclear, defence, naval or a similar highly regulated background. Ideally you will have SC Clearance but you must be a sole British to get the clearance required if you do not hold the relevant security clearance. Rate is c£60-65 Umbrella per hour or PAYE equivalent.

Key Responsibilities for the Project Manager (Nuclear)
  • Support the PM in the day‑to‑day management and administration of the contract.
  • Assist the PM in managing project financial performance, ensuring expenditure remains within approved budgets.
  • Contribute to project assurance activities and gateway reviews at key stages, assessing progress, compliance, and likelihood of successful delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant client processes, procedures, and infrastructure governance requirements.
  • Monitor the performance of internal teams, technical support providers, and supply‑chain partners in line with contractual obligations.
  • Maintain productive, professional relationships with supply‑chain partners across the duration of the contract.
  • Review and critique duration and cost estimates for key activities, updating these at defined milestones and identifying critical timelines.
  • Track financial performance throughout the project and produce reports in accordance with organisational requirements.
  • Gather cost estimates for activities, events, and overheads, applying metrics to identify trends and refine final cost forecasts.
  • Review proposed changes, assess their high‑level impact, and request additional information where required.
  • Evaluate options relating to proposed changes and estimate associated impacts.
Position Requirements for the Project Manager (Nuclear)
Essential
  • Ability to work on site 3 days per week and hold (or be eligible to obtain) SC clearance.
  • Minimum 4 years’ project delivery experience.
  • Experience in infrastructure works within the built environment.
  • Strong commercial understanding, including cost/value analysis and the ability to question and challenge compensation events.
  • Practical experience delivering projects under NEC4 contracts, including change management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficient IT skills.
Desirable
  • Experience managing projects within complex, live operational or regulated environments.
  • Background in collaborative working environments.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to evolving project needs.
  • Working knowledge of Primavera P6.
  • Familiarity with CEMAR or similar contract management tools.
